Hooker Aero Chambers are what I have, can't complain. Bit of rumble at idle, not too loud under cruise, reasonably mellow, but are quite agressive when I open it up

13.20's with 2.25-2.30 60's, 40+ year old suspension sucks!
Best trap 107.11mph, we'll see what the new intake/carb setup does.

Don't put cats on a 67. And exhaust is gonna depend on build

I have a 68 mustang with a 289. When i bought it the car had dual glasspacks on it. I loved the sound of the glass packs but they were robing me of power so i bought a whole new exhaust from the h pipe back, flowmaster original 40 series. they have alot deeper tone but they sound like a droning more then a rumble. Im selling just the mufflers and what to get new mufflers. What kind of muffler will give me a good rumble. Flowmaster super 40's?
I realize this is a Mustang forum, but if you have ever heard a 86/69 Z/28 Camaro with chambered exhaust......well....that is pretty hard to top. Plus you have no problems with those great big slugs taking-up room on a car that doesn't have enough to start with.
I've heard a couple of ppl's rides that have cherry bombs and flow masters behind them and it sounds really good. I'm not too sure about cherry bombs robbing power because they are basically straight through design.
There's more to "free-flowing" than simply being able to look all the way through. Details like the way the perforations are formed in the inner pipe can make a huge difference, and are likely to make the muffler flow better in one direction than in the other. In David Vizard's book "Performance With Economy", tests on various mufflers showed that typical glasspacks flow relatively poorly. And that's lost power.
BTW, I'm running Hooker mufflers on the V8 car. They might be Maximum Flows (it's been several years since I installed them, so I don't remember). Since the car (a '79) has to have a catalytic converter, it's probably abit quieter than they would be in a '66 or thereabouts. But it does let you hear it when you rev it up through the gears.
I would go with these also, they are quite noticeable but they wont aggravate you.

They aggrivated a cop last night, or it could have been that my tires were lit the entire way through the interesection. But I made the light He let me go, apperantly he needed to be somewhere else. Seriously though, no one has ever complained about them, not even the police, and they still sound good. You get tired of obnoxiously loud after a while, and so does everyone else. That and I don't wanna be loud unless I'm putting down atLEAST 400rwhp. They way you're faster than louder, instead of being louder than you are faster
