Default 351 Windsor Engine

Hello everyone,

I just bought a 66 coupe with no engine or drivetrain so obviously I am playing the "whats it's going to be" game with my set up. I have found a 351Windsor that was pulled out of a 69 that is in need of a rebuild. Now I am planning on putting a T5 in the coupe, plus it already has a 9in rear with 3:50gears. Additionally, a mustang 2 front suspenstion has been installed as well. So in the end, I need everyones thoughts on this engine. Here are my questions....What will it take to put that engine under the hood (modification wise). Will there be any issues with using a T5 and this engine? What am I looking at as a cost to re-build the engine (not wanting to do a half @#$ rebuild, but not needing a crazy mind blowing engine either)? That is all I can think of ATT but I would really appreaciate any input from any or all of you. I am new to this rebuild game and I am pretty psyched! I am working on getting pics uploaded to the site. Its just that everything I have it way to big to up load. Thanks!!

If it's a stock T-5 and you plan on making some HP it wont last. Not if the car ever gets traction anyway. If you plan on a nice cruiser it will be fine.

How much power are you wanting to get? I am putting a 351W in my 66 and so far all of these guys have been plenty helpful. Ask lots of questions, and you will get some really good answers. Welcome to the family, hope its fun. Be sure to keep us informed.

a 69 351w block is Godly, it can make big power i think stock block will hold 750-800hp, but the t-5 wont hold more than 350rwhp then snap, but the torque rating is a big concern that engine should be trowing down right around 320rwtq. if you can get the t-5 cheap have it BUILT and it will hold, otherwise you might want to look at buying an already built tranny.

IMO you will not regret going with a 351, especially with your mustang II suspension...
