Default autolite carb dismatle

so i started to inspect and disassemble my autolite 4100 and after i popped the top plate off, i see two brass floats (?) not exactly sure what they are... anyway, on the bottom of one, on bottom of carb theres this little valve thing. how do i get those floats out (pop them out of their holders? and what bout the little wires holding em in) and how do i get that valve lookin thing out aswell.

hell, while im at it, whats the best way to clean one of these things? soak in solvent then...?

Don't know what too tell you here. can you post a pic of your issue here. These things are best done visually.....or by someone that knows what's going on...Every thing is easily disassembled so, I don't understand the issue.

Not sure about the parts inside. To clean it, I soaked it in carburetor cleaner for a few hours. Also a little bit of scrubbing.

To get the floats off you should just have to wedge a small flathead screwdriver between the wire and the post, there is a little groove that they sit in.

so heres the pictures.

the wire on the left of the jet thing is what im trying not to break...

and, just kinda out of curiosity, what does this thing do? it looks like it has somthing to do with a little pipe running down into the primaries.

carbs are still kinda a mystery to me. obviously. haha

Wow, that's a close up! never seen one like that but, I agree with the screwdiver. It should just snap off the pin. I would think the whole assembly would just lift out normally though.

The second pic is a bowl vent. Never seen one mounted sideways (verticle) though.

To clean, I usually get a gallon of carb cleaner. Comes with a basket to put the smaller parts in..let em soak for 30 min's to an hour and rinse with water, then blow dry. Nice to have compressor too, to blow out the small passages.

The wire rides in a groove and should pop right off. Then the floats will come out and the needle valves will fall out. The needle valve seats unscrew but you need the proper tool or a WIDE flat screwdriver.

The thingy in the second picture is the hot idle compensator. It lets more "pure" air in when it's hot out, to keep the idle from becoming too rich.

Get a good kit and don't lose the secondary ball check. It's in the passage at the top of the secondary diaphragm cover.

yeahh, pics are big, never got a chance to look at em before i posted haha. anyway, i tried the screwdriver thing, and it worked! so thanks!
when I took it apart, it looks like the diaphram in the back had been changed, and there was no ball in there[:@]ill have to call pony carbs to see if they have some around.
