I'm looking for some comments/experience with Grundy Insurance Co.
Does it work the same way as Geico or Progressive ?
Do you need to have collector/antique tags to qualify ?
I have a 1999 Gt 35th Anniv. and drive it only 2000-3000 /yr. I'm looking for an inexpensive way to insure it.

i have 2 mustangs and i pay less than 160 a month for both - full coverage. - i use geico but i get discounts for military etc. what do you pay now if you don't mind me asking?
I have liability only with Geico for $400 /yr
Grundy quoted me at $120 a year for the same coverage, which means that I could get better coverage with Grundy for the same amount of money.
IIRC Grundy will not insure your car for anything but car/club related driving. For example if you used your Mustang to go to the store to get milk you're not covered but it you're driving to a show you are entered in or to the parts store you're ok. Personally I use Haggerty because they insure by miles driven, ususally 5k or 10k and and as long as you aren't racing they really don't care where you're driving.
Not true about grundy. They will insure you car no matter what year it is? Cost depends on the amount you want covered for. Got a quote on my car for $135 a year not bad.

From Hagerty's web site - "Hagerty provides coverage for vehicles that are used on an occasional basis -- e.g. club functions, exhibitions, organized meets, tours and limited pleasure driving."
I'm not aware of any classic car insurance company that will insure your car if you plan on driving it to work or the mall. They don't want the car left unattended for long periods of time.
Grundy has one of the more restrictive collector car policies of anyone I had quoting me. Most collector car agencies will insure your car.
I have carried my cars with Hagerty, mainly becuase they have always agreed to the value I wanted to place on the car without blinking an eyelash, whereas Grundy would not match the value I wanted on the car(s).
Grundy was cheaper in all instance, but the difference of $75.00 a year just did not make sense in changing policies.
My mom talked to someone at Grundy at length and is switching from Hagerty to Grundy, as they are about 1/2 the cost per year. I have not looked at it myself though. I will double check with her on any driving restrictions that they might have in the policy.
