Default Maaco paint?

im in the middle of prep/body/bondo work on my car. and i went to maaco this morning to ask if they could shoot some paint on my car if i did the prep work. they told me all about the 4 types of paint jobs they offer. prices $299, $499, $699, and $999. im obviously interestd in the $999 one. cause ive heard maaco sucks so i want the absolute best they offer. plus the guy said he will give me some deals on door jambs and a quick prep spray for free if i go with the surpreme level.

anyone ever deal with maaco? is it worth the grand for a paint job, since its only gonna be my daily driver, i dont need it perfect. or is it a complete waste? i mean they obviously have to do decent work since theres so many shops and stay in business (especially in our economy).

thoughts?

you guess is as good as mine, my car was done at maccoo before i bought and the paint was faded and chipped when i got it and the paint was 3 years old, but it was not properly prepped, so ifs its been prepped before the paint id say it would be ice for 5 years or so.

Make sure your getting a decent warranty with the PJ.

Also, are they giving you a discount for doing the prepwork?

If not, you can most likely find a different shop that will chop the price in half for prepping before hand.

yeah my paint before was chipped, cracked, orange peeled, and looked like plain **** before i stripped it. it was chipped all the way down to the metal and started rusting and now my whole roof looks like a dry mojave dessert haha. but i should be fine if i prep it myself right? i could always spray a coat of the featherfill primer i have first and then send it to them. they spray their own sealer primer mixture on it before they paint it anyways. so it would be double sealed then.

Orrr, look at the detailing sites online. You can usually find some local painters that can do a good job for cheap.

But... this comes with no warranty

woops, Didn't see your post.

That's ridiculous that they won't give you a warranty for prepping it.

If I were you, I'd look for a local indi painter like i said ^ or find a locally run shop. Both will split the price for your prep work.

Preppin is 80% of the battle
