I spent today and yesterday aligning panels. This is the second biggest pain (first is paint prep - sand, sand, and sand again!). I got things really close. I still need to trim one side of the hood (where the blue tape is on the passenger side) and a couple of tweeks to the fenders and doors. Then I can block sand it and take it all apart for final prime and paint. Oh joy!
A scored these cool leather seats for $400 on ebay. They came with sliders and they recline. I had to weld up some mounting brackets, but they fit and are comfortable. Mike and I took the car for a trip around the block and it is scarey fast! I have to align the front end before I do that again!

Hey, my whole life is a fake!
Congratulations on the start and test ride. Its looking great and coming along nicely.
I'll take the sanding and sanding and sanding over the panel alignment any day! *SIGH* I can't tell you the time we spent with the doors, fenders and hood.. let alone the fiberglass front end! Funny how the trunk lid dropped right in place!

I've got the panels all aligned and 90% of the body work finished. I'll finish up the body work this weekend and lay down three coats of high build primer. If everything looks good, a dusting of guide coat followed by a couple days of block sanding and I'll be ready for paint. I've decided to paint it myself and I bought a nifty little 4 stage compressor/HVLP/fresh air respirator all in one gizmo. I'll post more on that once it gets here, but a friend of mine swears by it and it is very portable. I'm also going to try the Eastwood paints and I've decided on maroon metallic (I think it is called rodberry) with metallic silver hood treatment (like the 1970 boss) and tail light panel. I know it is not correct for my year, but what the Hell on my car IS correct?!
I hate drilling holes in perfectly good sheet metal, so I used Norton panel adhesive to bond the side scoops and fender extensions on to the car:
I also, then filled the gaps on the extensions and welded the rear valance on to the car. I hate the look of the gaps:
I've got a little more touch up to do on the headlight buckets, but I got my hood to fit perfectly, it just needs a final finish sanding of the rear edge:
And don't forget the too cool billet Shelby grill:
Adrenolin's got me motivated! I can not wait to get this beast on the road!
