Looking great. I like the seamless quarters. Glad to hear the fitment is going well. This is likely the #1 thing I hate about the project... body alignment issues. Give me the sanding any day over that. I think I spent 3 days on the doors for chr1st sakes!

That is coming along great. I can't wait to see it finished.
Mine is nearly done. I am getting some intermediate eshaust pipes done tomarrow. They are going to weld on my tips as well. While I am there I am going to have my subframe connectors welded as well. I'll get some updated pictures of mine up soon.
Three coats of high build 2k primer are fully cured...
And the garage is full:
Notice the plastic sheeting covering everything and the furnace filters over the windows. I installed a box fan in the exterior door at the top of the stairs and sealed it with more plastic and duct tape. It worked great! Not a single complaint of any solvent stink from my wife with the very sensitive nose!
I'll have to do the top coat and clear in stages as I can't get around everything the way it is currently organized.
I plan on painting the underside of the hood and trunk lid, door jams, and hood and trunk hinges first. Then install them on the car and paint the rest. Sound like a good plan?

Hey, my whole life is a fake!
This is a very cool thread!
I know zip about painting, but am getting interested, so I'll be following your progress closely.
How do you keep the dust down? I've heard guys hang wet sheets, and use filters with fans, wash the floors etc. Just wondering how far a person needs to go for a high quality paint job.
Looking great! Not sure what your plans are but the shop that painted ours put down 2 coats of base, taped off then painted the side stripes/text and then shot 4 coats of clear. One of the reasons was to allow for wetsanding and buffing. The difference the roof (getting vinyl top so not buffed) and the body panels are amazing! If your looking for a sweet paint job add the additional clear and sand/buff afterward.
My father didn't and after seeing the buffed stang is regretting not having it done.
Good luck on the painting! Can't wait to see how it comes out.

This is my personal favorite thread on this site. I can't wait to see it finished. As for the plan of attack on the painting I think painting the jambs, hood and trunk bottoms and hinges off the car and hanging them for the final color coats is the way to go. The last project I painted, I did everything off the car, doors, bottoms of hood and trunk and then flipped them and used long bolts threaded into the holes as stands to keep the fresh paint from getting damaged. It worked, but was a hassle. Then hanging them on the car with fresh paint on every surface was no fun. I told myself I would hang everything after jambing for the next one. I think you will be glad you did it that way in the end. Keep the updates coming!
