just curious cuz I have been looking to purchase a 302 block and maybe get a 331 stroker kit. What kind of Compression ratio would i expect 8.0:1 or would i expect like a 10.5:1?? Or is it determined by the Crankshaft or Cam?
Most crate 302's are in the neighborhood of 9-9.5:1 compression.
And even with a blower those World heads would still be too big, unless it was a 30+ psi 8,500rpm boosted race gas engine.
You could get good used heads for a fair price. A lot of people unload decent heads when they build a bigger engine and upgrade.

13.20's with 2.25-2.30 60's, 40+ year old suspension sucks!
Best trap 107.11mph, we'll see what the new intake/carb setup does.
12.80 at 110.5mph NHRA DA corrected
i've heard alot of horror stories about DSS, you may want to reconsider where you are purchasing from.
that being said, your 670 holley will be fine - and i hear the edelbrock rpm xt's are supposed to be fantastic.
urban, what kind of valves did you have that got hammered by not having lash caps? i've seen tons of motors built with extremely high spring pressures and never have i seen them come back after seasons of circle track racing with beat up tips. we used ferrea stuff, pretty much the best valves money can buy.
I've heard of some quality issues with the ARP heads (what Urban was running). Their valves are crap, their valve springs are sub-par, they don't heli-coil threads, and even the aluminum they use is crappy.
Edit: AFR, not ARP

331 stroker
Star, you mean AFR heads. ARP is the fastener company... NAd yes, you are exactly right right. Their quality absolutely sucks.

The piston and head chamber will determine compression ratio.
P.S. I would stay away from DSS. fordstrokers.com would be a better alternative. One more thing, there is no reason to stop at 331 if you are going to stroke a motor you might aswell go with a 347 the cost will be the same.
