You can go to Drake Customs and get a 67/68 or 65/66 fastback shell with a title (converted coupe using Dynacorn panels), media blasted, all rust completely repaired, and epoxy primer coated for $9k. This is a much better option than the Dynacorn shell for 60% of the money and a clean title. Unless you have an issue with the vin indicating coupe, it is a no-brainer imo.

Hey, my whole life is a fake!
Norm, the program in CA you are talking about is SB100. It allows 500 cars a year to be exempted from teh CA smog rules. You need the paperwork, patience, and to stand in line at about 4:00 am on the first day of January the DMV is open. All 500 are typically gone before noon. The other option in CA is to use an engine date coded in the 60's. You will then need to pass emissions for that year. CT where I live has recently moved to this standard.

Hmm, respectfully, not so sure about that. Supply goes up, price comes down. That's why 65 coupes are cheaper than FB's right now. Don't worry, I will still be drooling over your car regardless.
haha, wouldnt it go up because the ratio of classic/new classic will go down? like, there will be less classic cars compared to new classic cars then there are now

Possibly, if you assume that driving an original classic is the most important factor in a decision. Good point.
The fact that you basically just need to bolt on stuff might actually make the reproduction cars more desireable in some respects. Which COULD decrease demand for originals.
BTW, if you keep thinking about all of the different senarios your head will explode.
Yeah they are nice there camaro bodies are cheaper go give it time.Vin depends the state some will let you take a vin off another just like it and use it some its kit car only.I do know of some of there camaro bodies have firebird vins so maybe a cougar vin might pass.If i won the lotto id buy the 69 sport roof body but it on a full frame a nasty big block.I will warn you there fit on some parts on there bodies is iffy my friend had to fix a lot on his camaro one.
Fit of panels is important if you are going to show it, but if you are thinking of a nasty street legal strip car...not so much. That stuff needs to come off easy anyway and if it has the power I would like, it is all going to twist some anyways . Still thinking about greasing in a nasty FBB in the 500CID range with maybe a dual stage nitrous system and a lenco tranny. Outlaw 10.5 kinda car...dreams of sugar plumbs and big blocks danced in his head.
