I'm heading out to look at a 65 Mustang notch back. It was a 3 year restoration project. 289 2v, auto. New trunk, quarters and pans. How much do you feel one of these is worth?
Also, any tips on things to look for on 65s? I know the cowl was a problem area. How can we check the cowl?
Thanks!

Most people say to pour a cup of water down the cowl and then check inside around the floorboards to see if any of the water made it in the interior compartment.
For anything in good shape you are talking from $5,000+. The 65's tend too cost more than the 66's, although I personally like the 66's better. And whatever you do check those framerails with a screwdriver to make sure they are solid. Car may look good on the surface, but it's underneath that counts.
Also a good thing is to go on Ebay and see what the going prices are and compare.
Good luck. Hope it's a nice one.

Went and looked at it. Its definitely a ten footer. the closer you get, the more imperfections you see in the paint. nothing too horrible though. It was some chips and rubs, mostly from alignment issues on panels. Some little odds and ends are jerry rigged. Like a button under the dash for a horn. Engine started right up and runs like a top. The underside is almost rust free. new front suspension, fenders, and doors. Rims are pretty banged up. Few rust spots - paint under the rear bumper is cracked with surface rust and theres one rust bubble on the drivers door.
In all honesty, I'm looking for something I can drive around daily, in all weather but snow.
Hes asking about 7k. Someone offered him 4k a year ago and he turned it down. Apparently were the only ones that called.
