Sure, if you don't mind damaging your fenders and tires on large bumps...

Go with the 1.25" spacer in the rear and the 1.5 up front. I tried the 1.25 on the front of my car and it wouldnt clear the A arm, so I swapped with a 68 owner who had 1.5 spacers on the rear of his car. It tucked his wheel perfectly with the 1.25 and my front end now cleared the a arm with his 1.5..

As CPR streetmachines for a pic of his wife's car with the spacers and some 05 GT wheels..

I'm pretty sure that the stock 1994-2004 17x8 is 29.5mm, while the 2005 + is 45mm.

I agree wholeheartedly.

But the practical side of the matter is that there isn't much in the way of real performance 15" rubber available in adequate sizes any more. Virtually all of the good stuff is either too small in terms of load capacity, too narrow or too short, or is 17" and larger.

Anything less than 'H' speed rated does not feature a particular tire construction detail called a 'cap ply'. V-rated and higher get two cap plies, T-rated tires have 'cap strips', and S-rated tires have nothing. From an automotive engineering forum,

Quote:
I can see where a guy with a 4 door sedan might question the use of a V rated tires - and I tend to agree. However, I personally don't recommend anyone use lower than an H rated tire on anything! (unless it's unavailable in the size needed.)

The short explanation for this is:

Adding a cap ply to a tire seems to disproportionally improve the tire's resistance to tire failure. Pretty much all tire failures occur in S and T rated tires (H and higher are almost immune).
The boldface part has been my position from long before internet forums existed, without really knowing why it was a good "cutoff point" until rather recently.

Yeah, I guess I was ranting a bit . . .

Don't know if the Cobra "R" wheels are supposed to be different then OE, but they're listed at 15 mm. Other 1994-2004 wheel offsets vary from 20 up to 30.
