BAD idea!!! unless you have something else supporting the car. A cinder block can and will break. They are used for structural supports but only if used with concrete and rebar.

Guys.....i dropped the tranny, not that big of a deal and yes you guys were right the torque conv was not fully engaged.

Let me as this question, is the weight on the felxplate to balance off the entire TC+flexplate while spinning? Is this because the TC has fluid in it and needs the weight to balance it off? IF this is the case, this should mean that the weight would be directly opposite the drain plug on the TC???

Im just trying to figure out how i will line things up since the car is on the ground and its difficult working on your back.

By the way, my fukin neck is killing me. I had to call it a day and will continue tomorrow.

The weight on the flexplate is to offset the internal imbalance created by the crank. It works in conjunction with the balancer on the front of the engine to neutrally balance the rotating assembly. The TC is in neutral balance when it is installed.

now that the tranny is down, how would you mark the flexplate and the TC so that they line up when you pull the tranny and engine together? also, now that the TC is fully engaged, would it need to come a little forward for the bolts to come through? it seems its too far back? once im about to bolt the tranny to the engine , i will not be able to pull TC forward if it needs..

I usually try to line the TQ holes in relation to something on the tranny and the block like put the holes in line with the tranny bolt holes. Yes the TQ will come forward a little when you bolt it together.

YIPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

yea so as i was typing my last reply, i looked over and it was still 9pm, kids asleep and wife fell asleep too so i figured to go try one last time. Pulled tranny, lined everything up and it went in in a matter of 5 min. Dont know why it took me all freakin day and didnt get jack **** accomplished.

Anyway everything lined up perfect and the flexplate DOES NOT RUB anymore. what a relief. Although im not sure if i fuked up the tranny pump trying to get a good seal previously. How would I know if I did damage? I would have to start the car and drive her?
