I;m not sure of the power gains at that low of a pressure.
You can run 8 safely on a 6. 10 is pushing it.

Ok, i wasn't sure of the safe pressures for that engine. I knew you could just use what it has that's why i suggested the forged internals and not say that it NEEDED them. I plan on turboing my 5.0 EFI when it's all said and done and I'll be rebuilding it at the same time so i'll be doing the forged internals so I know it'll be strong. I wonder...how audible would the blow-off be on the 6cyl? Any different than a 4cyl?

Your block will be the limiting factor.

yeah i figured so but I won't be dumping even 10psi into it. maybe like 7 or 8 depending on where i like it. Mine is just a crusier with maybe a few short sprints for some fun, not a racer. Otherwise I would have to chrome everything because like they say "if it ain't fast, chrome it."

I hope to turbo mine and I will run only 8. Once I get a chance I will build an I6 and bump up to 16.

Yeah i think it's getting somewhere around 215 hp right now. I was just wondering what would be needed to put a turbo on it.

THanks

I say just run it (maybe at a sane pressure) and rebuild or replace if it breaks.
Besides 30-55 more HP is probably 30-55% more power than it has now.

That said, headers and a duel carb setup (or 4 bbl) will pep up the 6 banger too, probably with less trouble.
You rebuild it now instead of later because sometimes you cant fix something when it breaks, e.g. shattered piston that can kill your block, ruin your head, and poses a potential safety issue.
