Still waiting to get the car blasted. But having TONS of fun with anti squat and IC theories for the rear suspension I want to build. But I'm still collecting parts while I figure it out. Have my assembled ultra case showing up any day. I can get my PG as soon as I find time to get the stupid thing shipped here.
These are the 10 way strange struts with the coil over conversion with bearings. :2thumbs:
It's gonna have LOTS of Strange parts. Got the rims on the way to bead locking. Bought some 15x12 Street Lites with 3.5 bs. Great looking rims, pain in the ass of a company to deal with though.Ended up just getting them from summit because they refused to drop ship for me. Didn't want to pay shipping to me, then to champion. Once I get them back, tub it to the rail and see if I can get the 13.5 wide slick to fit with the rail, or a notch. Then I found a Currie HD 9in with back brace for 200 if I can run it.Just debating that or the lighter sheetmetal versions out there. He cut it too short. If it works, put on some ends, weld on the back brace, and order the gun drilled 40 spline :chacha:
This is the "new" shortblock. Take it apart and go through it.
Hope to make some picture worthy progress soon. Whadya think so far with the plans ?

Borrowed a dead set of M/T 325/50's for mock up. These are the new rims. 15x12 with 3.5 BS. these would fit with the new suspension and stock tubs, but not with the new slicks. So some surgery to come to fit those. These should make traction on the street semi feasible.
And the 325's compared to the 29.5x13.5
Sickening really. I should be able to keep the seat, with maybe a little clipping to the lower seat frame. But keeping the back seat is still a reality. Although kinda funny, considering I know it will never be used. Just has to look like a street car right ?
The slicks and rims are borrowed as well. Hate to buy all this rubber and it be no good by the time I can use it. Ordering the other rims with different B/Sing once I start cutting up the car and figure the rear end width.
the deep dish rims look fragile. looking at it doesn't seem possible the spokes will hold the torque needed to accelerate those monster wheels :-) it would be cool alright if you could keep the back seat. ya. noone ever in there (who wants to clean up the mess), but makes for a cooler image.
what kinda block did you get? looks they opened up the galleys in lifter valley. nothing nicer then to look at an engine that's never seen oil.
as for the suspension, that's all greek to me

The "smaller" tire is a 325/50/15 and the larger slick is 29.5x13.5. You can run a 315 without a mini tub. You'll run into the leafs first anyways. Rims for both are 15x12's. As soon as I cut up the car a bit I'm going to measure for the next set of rear rims. Will be the same size, but probably with another inch of backspace or so I'm guessing.
Kali, I really do want that back seat. I don't want anyone to walk up to it an have any idea. Look just like a 12 sec car with fatties and skinnies. Until you look underneath or the big 'ole hurricane machine under the hood.
Oredered my adjusting pad for the lower control arms today, and the 3rd member should be here next week. I mis understood. Got my hopes up to nothing lol. Buy the rest of the stuff to make the cars and make the coil over brackets soon.
Haha, I loved it being ugly though man. Roll up on some race car with 15k in paint, the win just adds insult to injury. But yeah, the business is probably the biggest reason for paint. Just sucks to spend that much money have it not make you any faster. lol.
I lived by this mantra for years. What is even more fun is beating a car that is trailered to the track, has huge slicks, tubs, open headers, hood scoop, fancy paint, and a bunch of other 'race car' stuff with what looks like a stock beater on drag radials that has been driven to the track through the mufflers. Not only running on your dial, but running faster than his race car makes it very sweet...
Looking good so far, what is the ET goal for this beastie anyway?

Thanx man. Not sure on the final goal of the car. BUt a few numbers I'd like on pump are 5's in the 1/8 which should be pretty easy compared to the 8.99 I want in the 1/4. After that the race fuel will be E85. For that I have 36 and 120 lber's waiting. I'm sure eventually it will get down to 8.5's, but I don't want the funny car cage. Who knows. Most important is to stay a street car I race, not a race car driven on the street.
So I worked a good bit on it today. Doesn't look like it, but swear I did. Knocked off most of the drip rails up front. Shave those here pretty soon. Got tired of waiting for the rotisserie, so I got a cart. Will have to just suck it up. More and more I look at it, I just may cut out most of the truck floor, and run pre-formed rails and build on those. I also ordered my pads with teeth to make my lower control arms and pan hard adjustable in 1/16 increments. Can't wait to do the rear suspension. Then I can ask Norm what he thinks.
Got some more done today. Easy to work on a Sunday. Only got 2 phone calls ! Figured I'd cut this out now rather than wait. It was pretty greasy and lots of sound deadener and tar. Maybe it'll save me a few bucks in the long run since that stuff it time consuming to blast off. Got the cowl cleaned out. Moving along OK now. Wondering what it'll be like in 2 months. As long as good looking parts keep coming in, maybe I'll be OK.
