Try making the idle a bit richer and then starting it at night.

13.20's with 2.25-2.30 60's, on the original 1967 suspension.
Best trap 107.2mph, ~2,600' DA.
Haven't run on the new suspension yet, set up for corners.

that note: "make it rev for a split second ... as soon as i stop cranking it" makes me believe Kmatch has nailed it.

try running a wire from the 'I' post of your starter selonoid directly to your coil+ and see if that resolves it (this will feed your coil 12V+ while you crank)

I'll give it a try. I'm open to trying anything reasonable at this point. The problem is that I only have these problems when the engine is cold and has been sitting outside for 4+ hours in the street at night. I live in California so it's not too cold or damp outside at night. My buddy thinks the engine just isn't broken in yet. I think the carb or distributor might be defective.
