I have a 65 mustang "GT" coupe. all features point to it as being a real GT but, the only problem I've come across is the door tag. i decoded it on a site and it says it had standard interior.
the question i'm getting at is
Did the 65 GT coupe come without pony interior as well?
it had it when i bought it, but its just the door tags don't say it came with it.
Was thinking maybe the guy wanted the dual exhaust, fog lights etc, but to cheap for the pony interior.

Did the 65 GT coupe come without pony interior as well? You betcha. The interior type had no connection to the model. Plenty of GT's of all years had standard interiors, and many 6 cylinder cars had the deluxe.
it had it when i bought it, but its just the door tags don't say it came with it. Huh? Oh, it has deluxe now. Sure, lots of people "upgraded". I used to pull entire deluxe interiors in junkyards for friends back in the 70's.
Was thinking maybe the guy wanted the dual exhaust, fog lights etc, but too cheap for the pony interior. Look at it from a car enthusiasts point of view in the 60's- did the fancy seats and woodgrain make it any faster? I have seen a number of 289 High Performance equipped Mustangs without the GT option, and without the deluxe interior, or even a tachometer. And about "cheap": The GT option cost $165 extra, which is almost $1200 today.
