What size tires

Looking for rims and tires for my 1965 GT 350 clone, I was thinking about 17 -8 in front and 17-9 in the rear.
chrome ? any thoughts

65 5.0,AOD, 9in with 3.89 true lock

8" wheels in front can cause handling probs and make steering more laborious. 9" rear wheels can hit the wheel well opening on bumps at high speeds unless you have custom suspension. Use the search tool above to check out threads on this subject. There's tons of info posted. Good luck.

8" wheels will not cause any handling problems nor will they make steering any harder, your tire width will determine that.9" wheels will fit but your axle MUST be centered,fender lips rolled and the offset must be dead on.I forgot what it was off hand by my buddy has them on his and a stiff rear suspension. A 8" or 8.5" wheel on the reay is better choice and you can fit a 275. The front i went narrower with a 7" wheel and a 215/25/27

I have 17x7 front and 17x8 rear. I run 225/45/17 on the front with no problem. The larger wheels do seem to make the steering a little harder with manual steering. Good luck!

i ran 17x8 all around on my old coupe and did not have any problems at all. you can probably manage to fit 17x9 in the rear but id rather make some space for them (mini tub, shorten axle, ect...) or stick with 8. what are you tryin to do with this car? daily, show, race?

I was attempting to give it a stronger look, wider in the rear chrome or SS rims, I could go with 15 in, but thought 17 in. would give it a undated look too

you can make 9in. rims fit by doing whats called a poor mans mini tub. Very very simple. This will allow you to run a 17x9 with 5 inch back spacing. To go any larger than this you have to remove the leaf springs ie coil-over suspension. here is link for poor man mini tub;
