I think the timings pretty close because it purrs like a kitten but I have not put a light on it. Im not sure how to check the vacuum advance but I'll ask around the shade tree.
The problem seems to start around 40 mph, and is more noticible going up hill.
I'll put a light on it this afternoon and see what I can learn about the vacuum advance.

I replaced points, condenser, distributor cap, checked the vacuum advance, timing, compression, spark advance, etc. Everything seems to be working great but I still have the annoying skip. This one really is bugging me. Im sure I can fix it if I can only figure out whats causing it. The engine runs smooth as silk untill about 35-40 mph then starts the cutting out again. Its really frustrating.

My 200 used to do that at shift points. I believe I was running too rich, but I am using a 2bbl and not a 1.

Its been tough finding anybody thats familiar with the 1bbl. carb. I may have to rebuild the carb and see what that does. Im running out of things to replace but the problem persist.

It might just be a mixture problem.

I adjusted the mixture several times yesterday. Now its hard to start but drives better once you get going. I think the carb is the problem but I cant seem to find that right setting. I just need to find someone that knows their way around an autolite 1100 carb. or maybe do a rebuild.

im not sure how the 1 barrel is but ive done quite a few 2 and 4 barrel carbs, autolites, edelbrocks, rodchester, and holleys, if you get the kit and just follow the instructions its really easy, and pick up a can of brake cleaner to clean the carb out good. in fact im sure you can find a step by step how to on line for doing it. after all its not rocket science. at least youll know , after your done, if it still does the same thing its not the carb. its crazy what they charge for a rebuilt, even at checker, when a kit only cost about $20.00 good luck either way.

I think I finally found the problem in the condensor, one of the first things I changed. The parts store sold me a bad one (made in Mexico). I changed it again and it seems to have solved the problem. I also replaced the points again (made in China). Isnt anything made here in the states anymore?
I really hate putting imported parts on my classic American car.
