Default cost for new a/c

Hey everybody. I have been lurking here for a while and finally decided to jump in with my question since I havent been able to find an answer.
I am looking at buying a mustang for my wife. she has been in love with the classic look of the '65 and '66 models. I have noticed that most of the ones i find do not have a/c. I live in texas and it is a must for the ladies. I am wondering about how much it cost to have one installed and also is it a good idea to add them or is it better to find one with a working a/c even if I have to pay more for it.
Thanks for your help.

Installing AC in these cars has been going on since they hit the showrooms. Original Ford units are around, and there are many aftermarket kits that work very well. Depending what you want, figure $1000-$2000, plus installation.

Not sure where you are in Tx, but there are some good aftermarket A/C systems produced in the great state of Texas. If you are in East Texas, I'd recommend using a kit that ties into the defroster (all three of the companies below offer this). Kit pricing is on the web sites.

Not in any specific order:
Old Air Products:
http://www.oldairproducts.com/catalog/contact_us.php

Classic Auto Air:
http://www.classicautoair.com/contact-us.html

Vintage Air:
http://www.vintageair.com/contact.asp

If you are interested in reading about what it takes to install one, there is a brief write up on the Classic Auto Air "Perfect fit" kit on the web site in the signature below.
Good luck!
