Default help! car died on me going down the freeway

so, yesterday i was driving the freeway, was about 45 mph, and my car just cut out and dies. rolled over to the side of the road, and managed to get it started while it was still moving, but had NO power and didnt feel like it would stay running. died on the exit ramp.

the past week it had started to act kinda funny, lower power, occasional misfire, bogging down, but i figured it just needed a tune (which it does). now it wont start, but turns over

Ive tried, pumping up the carb to see if it just wasnt getting fuel. still wouldnt start.

ive tried putting a new coil in, nothing there

my other guesses have been plug wires or distributor. I also have a pertronix ignitor instead of points.

i dont have a volt meter and the car isnt at my house.

any help getting this thing started is apreciated.

my guess would be that the pertronix unit crapped out on ya. what coil are you using with that pertronix ignitor? because if you are using the Flamethrower 2 coil with the Ignitor 1 that wont work.

I'll have to say...it sounds more like a fuel issue to me. Did you see it spray into the carb when you pumped the gas? I think if the ignition went, it would go. It wouldn't have restarted.

An engine needs four things to run (air, fuel, compression, and spark). So start by testing those things.

What is your fuel pressure at the carb?
Does the carb have fuel in the bowls?
Are you getting spark?
How do your plugs look?

gas was a couple hours old. yes i saw spray. i dont know the preassure. i pumped it about four times, should be enough to essentially prime the engine. i thought it might be a fuel pump but it just wont catch so im thinking spark. i havnt pulled a plug yet as its across town, and i didnt have my tools. im going to go over there later. i might just get a new set of plug wires and dizzy cap, as i know they need to be redone anyway.

the coil is a stock replacment. its been running fine on the pertronix for almost a year. i dot have a set of points around though.

You might stick a set of points in there and see if it runs...
