Default Installing the distributer w/o timing marks

I looked today for my timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and there not there... Is there a way to install the distributer without the timing marks?

The marks are on the balancer, not the pulley. They are probably very faint, take some sandpaper and sand all the way around the balancer, you should be able to find the marks.

While I could tell you how to find TDC and all that, you need the marks to be able to properly tune your car.

and a timing light. dont bother doing anything until you have a timing light.. We can make marks on the damper wheel if need be but nothing gets done without the timing light in hand first.

Actually, you could put the engine at top dead center for #1 cylinder and then install the dizzy with the rotor pointed to the #1 pickup. That would get you close enough to start it, but fine tuning the timing would require a timing light, pointer, and mark on the balancer.

yes that's it...

again, sand it and you should see the marks. the indicator is on the timing chain cover you should be able to view it looking down into the engine bay from the driver's side. its on the drivers side just above the damper wheel.

Once you've located the timing marks, applying chalk will sometimes help bring the increments out better.

Use a right hand twist to prevent loosing the crank bolt...
