Never a good thing but at least your starting to get back on your feet again. I had an oil delivery truck run a stop sign into me years ago, went through years of recovery and still have issues. Its never a nice thing however your alive, getting better and thats what matters.

The car could be fixed with a lot of work. You'd need to tear her down to see the full extent but everything is available to fix it up again. I know I would have to at least try before scrapping the car. You'd need to tear her down anyways if you were to sell the parts or use them on a donor.

Definitely consult a lawyer and find out what your recovery rights are. Few people enjoy court but it is your right and she truly deserves it driving without insurance.

Good luck and hope you have a speedy recovery.

how old was this lady? If she is young she may not have any thing for you to take. I am curious to see what happened to her car and see what was she driving.

We have that coverage in Illinois. At I do. I don't know if it is required. Illinois does require insurance though. If that were here, she would not be driving again legally for a long long time.
Go to court. Get the judgement. Even if she has nothing now that is no assurance she will never have anything. Maybe she'll marry rich and hubby will pay off the judgement.
Glad you're alive. Let the car sit for a while and then take another look at it when it might be more objective and less emotional.

Are there any wrinkles behind the door, or in the roof line?
Tore up his rear passenger quarter panel and rear end area.

The whole passenger compartment seems to be reasonably well intact. Minimal intrusion. If you can weld you could buy the car back and take the front end off, all the metal is available, replace the frame rails and everything. The car would forever be a salvage title though. That's provided the rest of the body isn't tweaked. If you take the lady to court and tell your pity party story about having rebuilt the whole car and having just got it on the road...no one will have sympathy for that woman.

Was this oil delivery incident on hamilton ave in baltimore city by any chance?
My dad's first home was on hamilton avenue, and the day he moved in an oil truck came down a hill, flew thru the stop sign and hit 2 cars.

Man that is so sad, it makes me sick to see the pictures. But then I just look at the doors and they almost look perfect still. Man these things were built maybe not completely safe, but strong for sure.

That almost makes me cry! Glad you are on the recovery trail. I hope she was physicaly ok. You must have hit her drivers side.
From my perspective it looks like the steering shaft was pushed up into the lower dash causing the dash to bend in and up.
She was a pretty car. Good Luck!
