Default GT or not to be GT

I've met a few guys that had GTs that were "fake" but felt that the GT options were probably added by the dealership based on owner recollections and the cars history. I guess it does not make it a GT in a true sense, but it is kind of fun to figure out what was added and when.

68 was the first year you could get the GT with a 2bbl V8. So the GT in 68 could have any engine except the straight 6.

Default GT w/2V

From the sales literature, 1967 seems to be the first year you could get the GT option with a 2V 289. The 390 came with a 4V. If you have some definitive info on this, please post it.
