Default Ran out of gas

Hey guys Iam back again with another question I recently ran out of gas in my 68 coupe 6 cylinder after I put gas into it it shacks really bad to where it seems like it wants to cut off do I need a new fuel pump or are the fuel lines clog or something thanks

yeah it probably didn't run out of gas....at least not in the tank.

The one on the carb is only 2-3 dollars at any local parts store.

well, if its the only car you got and you have to drive to the store.....
but yeah, you can pull it out and either slosh it around in some gas you have around (in a bucket or somthing) or a mild solvent could work. try passing air throuh it. if you cant get the air through easy, new one is needed.

When you have the pump off, be sure to check the eccentric. I had one which had worn through the case hardening then made short work of the soft metal underneath. It was almost round where the pumps activation lever rode. The result was no fuel pump action.
