That link was very helpful thank you! I'm also wondering now if the mounting plate can be safely riveted into place in the roof or will it not withstand the intertia of an accident?

In the example, the mounting plate is held in place with a 1/4" grade 8 bolt, and a 7/16" Grade 5 bolt, both would be loaded in shear in an accident. I drive with them this way, and don't believe there is anything to worry about.

Default 67 3rd point seatbelt location

Here are 2 pics showing the small cuts needed to get the bracket behind the roof support and where the 2 bolts were placed. I welded the 2 nuts to the back of the bracket. Later I bent the cuts back, welded and ground them down to be neat and tidy. The 2nd pics shows where they are located with the drivers seat installed as I'm installing the headliner. The blue square of tape is where the 3rd point is. With the drop sash it should be slightly above and behind the shoulder. Just like most of today's cars.

Note the location of the 2 bolts holding the plate (behind the roof support) and the larger seatbelt bolt. The metal here is doubled up and should be the strongest location for it.

Hope this helps.

Didn't realize yours was a 66 as I saw Beast's post above.. Might still be useful to you though.
