2+2, im curious about this distributor machine your talking about. i've never heard it mentioned. what is involved with it?
The distributor is mounted on the machine, and spins at controlled speeds while the advance angle is indicated on the large dial. Varying the speed checks the centrifugal advance, while a controlled vacuum pump checks the vacuum advance at various levels.

Actually the machine only tells you what the distributor does. The operator must make all the changes mechanically to the centrifugal or vacuum advance. It usually takes about an hour.
so basicly what year of 5.0do i need to stay away from the p heads? and all i need is my 4 barrel i ntake and carb oil pan and thats it? now for the cam choice just go with a typical roller for that year motor or for older carb set ups? do i need new rockers or can i use the old ones? any sugestions on cam selection? im driving it on the street and hiway love speed and a lumpy motor. but want drivability as well. im looking for a cheap SIMPLE swap. love the idea of the newer style belts too.
