Default 73 Mustang Grande problem

It's a 3spd manual and i can't figure out what i need for the tranny/clutch to get it working since i've never seen it before. There is a metal piece that comes out of the left side of the tranny and there is the shifter linkage. the two aren't connected. my buddies dad told me there is a rod of some sort that connects to shifter linkage to the metal piece coming out of the tranny and then a spring that goes from the metal piece to the frame somewhere. can anyone tell me what this is and where i can get it. And i also can't find any headers for it. 302 3spd manual. thanks.

There is no spring on a 3 speed. You have the rods to connect the shifter to the linkages on the side of the tranny. The only spring you use is the one that keeps the rod going from the clutch z-bar to the clutch fork in place.

My old 3 speed:

rod and spring going from z-bar to clutch fork:

Any mustang parts supplier that carries classic parts can get you the clutch rod and return spring. I'm not sure where you can buy the shifter linkages though.

Now that's funny, telling you to call a Ford dealer. Ford has nothing for these cars. Check your pm's, I sent you a parts link.
