Default 67 cougar / 67 mustang parts compatability

Not that I'm going to, but could i put a cougar hood and fenders on my mustang? or vice versa? I've looked at the cougars frame rails and rad support, they look identacle to mine.....

if I got a 67 cougar could I make the front end a mustang and keep the rear looking like a cougar? Cause there's a really nice 67 coug V8 by me for sale

Blending the extremely different shape of the Cougar fender into the Mustang door would be a major undertaking, best done by hard-core customizers. It would never look good.

All Cougars were V8. Some even had the 390GT. In fact, in 68 over 200 Cougars had a 427 engine, 68 Mustang, 0 427's.

A 67 Cougar is an excellent car in its own right.

Not even close. Call somebody like Glazier Nolan, who can sell you one used bracket.

I googled them, not much came up...I did however find the set of three on ebay for like 25 bucks....then i could just go ahead and replace them all. But I'd really like to just pick a used one up for like 10 bucks.

Why would you or anyone want to put a Mustang front end on a Cougar? Kinda defeats the purpose of it being different from the Mustang. That is what Mercury was going for in 67 since they had to use the same suspension and chassis as the Mustang. Making it fit wouldnt be that difficult and you would need to change the quarter panels to Mustang pieces. So you would be making a long wheelbase Mustang with Cougar tail lights and dash. Why not just put those in a Mustang and be done with it?

The Cougar has a longer wheelbase than the Mustang and more interior room. They extended the area under the rear seats a couple inches right before the kickup for the rear end. Like 2+2 said all Cougars 67-73 were V8s, that was also intended to be different and upscale from the Mustang.

Either have a Mustang or a Cougar, both are cool cars but making the body parts interchange is not worth the effort and it will only end up wasting old cars that are getting tougher to find.

If I had a classic Cougar there is no way I would change it like that anyway.
