I know from experience that the stock sequential stuff isnt the greatest. In the 80s I was scouring junkyards for T birds and Cougars to find parts that worked, then they would for a week, or a day, or not at all. Modern stuff is much more reliable. Eventually I will go with LEDs on the Cougar.
That kit I was looking at does have electronic control units and flasher. Its not the same exactly as the old mechanical stuff that the classic Cougars and Thunderbirds had. I remember hearing people talk about having to repair them. I definitely don't want that.
I think that incandescent sequential kit is made be scott drake, but not sure.

I got mine from there, the 5x bright LED's, and love them.
I believe the do go dark in between blinks, but it makes sense because the super bright light is supposed to be only when you're breaking, its a running light otherwise.
If I recall its dark, then one lit, then two, then three. The other side stays lit of course.
I have to look at it again though, I just know I love them, mainly because of how bright they are. My old single bulb lights would barely illuminate, and I highly doubt anyone could see my brake lights in the day time. Now I know they can so I feel better about that.
Mustang Project was what I was going to get if I go LED. I just don't want the light to go completely dark between flashes if the tail lights are on, since it wasn't factory like that. It just looks weird that for a second there is no light coming from that side of the car like it should. I wish I knew if MP's LEDs did this or not. I have seen some LED kits do that, but don't know which ones they were.
Did your come with a lifetime warranty?
I just think there is something about the incandescant like that video of the Cougar that make the way they illuminate look better especially with the classic car.
I just thought that the other incandescant ones would still be at least 2-3 times as bright since it has 3 bubls.
I just went and looked at mine, they do go black for a split second when the lights are on. It doesn't bother me though, it only shuts of for a split second, not a long time at all. To me its very fitting, but I can see why you want one thats more like the original cougars and such.
I still just like the LEDs for the safety because its so bright, but I'd guess 3 incandescent bulbs will be pretty bright as well, just be sure to get a kit that doesn't melt the lenses.
I can take a video of mine tonight when it gets dark if it would help you with your decision, let me know!
The old dynamite sticks work OK "provided" you use the correct flasher, its a special HD one that will handle the extra load and keep in time, however this will vary with the voltage. This is the most common error people make when replacing the flasher, its just the wrong one. Their sequence of flash was very original to the "day" and the light will "flow" across. I also have a SS unit with filiment bulbs that works very well in the 67. No LED's for me.

The mustang project are the best leds they are bright and they care about the you.One member bought leds off them he had two leds bad they shipped him new boards no questions asked.The 2nd company i would use is http://www.classicleds.com/

That kit I was looking at actually comes with an adjustable electronic flasher module as well.
I'm not really familiar with how the true old school setups on the Cougars, Birds, and Shelbys operated.
Any chance you have a video clip of the incadescent setup on the 67?

Thanks for the offer. If you still want to take one that would be cool. I have seen some more clips on you tube. Here is a 69 Grande I think with Mustang Project LEDs.
It looks like he has one new lense and one old. Is this what your look like?
Mustang Project emailed me back and told me that their lights do function like you just said. They said that if I want them to go from bright back to tail instead of dark when they can make me a set like that.
