Default Old school western wheels

Anybody out there have some tips on refinishing the old school western type alum wheel? I would like these wheels to look like new and have tried Mothers but just doesn't get rid of the pits etc...

What about a wheel refinishing company in San Diego county? Should I consider using a clear coat after the work is complete??

Has anyone ever done this before??

Western...what!?? Got a pic of the wheels? I've never heard of "western style" wheels. I know rally, torque thrust, vintage 40/45/48, shelby 10-spokes, magnum 500, etc..., but not "western".

Western wheel was available in many styles. The aluminum 5-slot and white painted steel were probably their most popular. The white steel wheel was so popular GM used a copy as factory equipment on Blazers and Jimmies.

Sorry for the lack of info guys.

The wheels were made by Western (at least that is what I was told) and are the slotted style. Here is a pic of them. Now I think they are made by ENKI.

Oh heck, I don't know how to post a pic.

Your going to have to get to the raw aluminum. You will need to start with some 400 grit to get rid of pits and then move up to 600,800 and 1000. Stop there, if you go finer, you will start to polish the wheel, if thats what you want.

I would have them refinished and clear coated. That bare aluminum is for the birds. Make sure you get them done like you want. By that I mean polished or machined etc finish.
