Default What type of sealer to use between shock tower and frame?

Does anyone know what type of sealer I should use between the shock tower and frame? I cleaned up my shock towers and used a putty knife to remove most of the old stuff but now I need to know what to replace it with. I looked in my shop manual but couldn't find a part number or anything.

Also, when I get the sealer on there, and I prime the inside of the shock tower, should I use flat black or semi-gloss rustoleum spray paint? Should I use their rubberized undercoating after that?

Thanks for any info guys!

Rustolium satin black is the most correct looking paint for any type of engine bay or chasis painting that I can find. I personnaly do not reseal the inside of the shock tower after I scrape it all out. If you do seal it make sure to not seal the very corners so that any water that gets in there can get out. I have seen many a frame rust right there where the shock tower mounts. I also don't believe in undercoating. To me it looks like someone is trying to cover something up. Rear wheels wells and the quarters inside the trunk is all I use undercoating on.

Is it bad if I don't use anything between the shock tower and frame? I figured there was supposed to be some sort of opening for water or whatnot to drain through.

Lots of places have the sealer, it's 3M Seam Sealer. Glazier Nolan stocks it. The pocket below the arm in the shock tower does have a drain, but it's usually blocked with sealer or dirt, right in the middle on the engine side.

Eastwood has an excellent chassis black for these cars. Krylon semi-gloss rattle cans are darn near perfect, but only in spray cans. I called them once and they told me it doesn't come any other way, and won't in the future, either.

Or save yourself some money and get Krylon black 1612 from a hardware store. There are two types of seam sealers you can use, Brushable 3M8656 or in a cartridge tube 3M8505

Thanks everyone. I got the 3M seam sealer in the cartridge tube from NPD for about half the price of the brushable stuff.
