No offense taken jonward. It is lesson learned for me. I have built a few engines myself and they turned out great but the last one I did came apart on the dyno. I now leave it to the experts especially if you are doing something like a stroker. I should have known there would be problems when I popped out the first piston, it slipped, hit the floor and broke the skirt. I know now why it came apart but it was an expensive mistake.

I think I do quite a few thing very well but I gave up trying to do everything well. I realized no matter how good I am at something there is always someone better than me at it and sometimes it is wiser to pay them to do what they do well. Does that make sense

Where did you buy your short block? I'm going to get a 331 stroker for my 67 and considering getting a short block.

Sounds pretty awesome EZ. Did you get a Sportsman Block, or go with the 302 Boss block?
Since you all ready know how to build an engine, and have that under your belt, have you considered taking your parts to the builder, and let him massage it all?
The little tricks and tools that a good builder has is really invaluable. He hands you back a long block that is dialed and ready to run.
(IMHO) Your car is stunning, and you've done an awesome job on everything else, so why not have a true pro turn the tricks he knows loose under the hood?
If you hadn't had the experience of building your own engine, then I'd say, go for it. But you've "been there and done that", so why not go for the best, to match the rest of the car?

Scott thanks for the compliment. This however is my first go at a motor. This has been my first go at a car actually and I have done all the work myself. As far as massaging it all I will take it to a dyno shop and let them pick a carb and tune it.

BA-I bought it from a guy that ran out of money to finish his project

I ordered a XE282HR today...I think it might be too much cam. I hope so.

LOL, that's a great way to think about cam selection

But no, 5.0 lifters are not solid, unless you bought a set of solid lifters. You'll need to get one to properly check pushrod length.

Starfury, I see you have a 331 stroker. Do you have a preference for that over a 347? If so why? Not to take from the orig thread, I am learning a bit about the stroker motors and just want to know from a guy who has it, 331 that is.
