Default Gear shift linkage rattles loudly at high RPMs

Anyone know what's causing this loud rattle (sounds like an old fashioned phone ringing) at high RPMs? When you grab the shifter it stops.

I have a 6cyl manual 3speed and sounds like it's coming from the linkeage.

You need to rebuild the shifter. Cheap and easy to do. Pick up the 4sp (not 3sp) rebuild kit from Glazier's and use that for the rebuild. I did it on mine a few years ago and it made a world of difference.

i had the original 3spd as well. and for me it was the simple fact that the 2 bolts that hold the gear lever to the shifter (two bolts from top down) were loose.
It was hard to put into gear (find the gear) and the thing would rattle like mad.
It's easy to fix. just pull the rubber booot and you can access them.
If that's not it, do what Tad says

Are you sure it's not the phone?
