Default 6 cylinder trans on 289

hey guys i have a straight six and iam going to swap it out for a 289 and iam wondering if i can keep the trans that i have on there iam wondering what would i need for the trans to handle the power from the 289 thanks

There are some internal parts that make the C4 used with the 6 less strong.

i just need to put a c4 tourque converter in the straight six trans ?

Replace the tranny with a v8 one for a couple of reasons one they both are geared different and two a v8 makes more power its gonna break the tranny.And its a lot more work then just stuffing a v8 in it you know that right?What year is your car?

Have your c4 rebuilt to v8 spec or replace it.

I don't wanna swap out the trans I wanna keep it cuz it's still good I just need to know what else I need besides the bellhousing and converter that would be able to handle the 289 that wold be helpfully thanks
