Default Rear Parking Brake cable routing at frame

I have an early 65 convert that has had the rear frame rails replaced. I am looking for info (pics, drawings, etc.) of how the parking brake cable are fouted from the backing plate to or through the frame rail and up to the tunnel. The frame rails in the car do not have hoels for the cables.

64-65 cables are routed over the frame rail, not below as the later ones. The two crescents under the rear seat are for the cables.

First, thanks for the quick reply.

Your answer resolves a riddle: It looks like the floor pan was also replaced (like a lot of early Mustangs) and with a pan that does not have the cresents. Is there a better solution than to drill the rear frame rails? If not, is there a place to get the measurements/dimensions of where the holes are drilled and how to support the cable at the back?

For example, these are from a 66 Mustang. Where do they mount?

Thanks again for your reply.

Randy

I often see later cars with the 65 style floor.

Your easiest solution is to use the 66 cable, and go under the frame.

I don't have a 66 car handy to measure. Location is critical to allow adjustment and operation of the brake.

Wow!!

This is a great picture (as was your first one of the floor pan). And, I can actually infur a great deal from this photo about the correct placement. I spent 3 hours yesterday Goggling around looking for a picture like this one. Thanks.

Perhaps someone else may have a close-up of a 66 rear frame rail to show the verital placement (how high up the frame rail are the inside and outside hoes, I suspect the outside hole is higher than the inside one.)

Still, you have provided a great deal of help about the horizontal placement. I hope I can return the favor to you or someone else.

Thanks,

Randy

There are no holes in the frame rail, the cable simply passes below the rail.

As I studied the photo you posted i saw that the cables simply passed below the rail. So when i got home, i looked at the chassis manual and it seems to show the cable going through the rail. So, i test fit everything and it clearly fits without doing that - just as your photos shows.

I am going to do it the same way as the photo.

Thanks,

Randy
