Well

If I'm observing it correctly, the "rooster comb" has a pin which engages the manual shift valve.

There are two grooves in the manual shift valve:

One at the front, and another one which is "one notch back" from the first one .... the second one also has a "circlip" on it.

Which one is the pin on the rooster comb supposed to be engaged in ?

Can someone get me a picture showing a correctly engaged manual shift valve on an AOD ?

I'm not sure about spool valve hook up but, want to throw another thought out there. Put it in reverse and see if it will rev...if not, it sounds like a fried forward clutch that won't let go.

Sorry I cannot help more, I thought we were on the right track with the manual shift valve. I know nothing about AOD's so I cannot comment on the foward clutch idea.

I think I would report your findings on the tranny forum and ask if the foward clutch could cause this and if it as a common problem in the AOD

Please post back when you find the problem so we can all learn something

If the clutch is fried, it will be trying to go forward in ALL positions. So, if you put it in reverse, it'll try going forwards and backwards at the same time(can't happen). Also, yes, you have to open it up to fix it.
