Default 1969 coupe build

i bought this car 4 years ago with no knowledge on how to restore cars. now ive finally settled down enough to start working on her. it had a 302 and more rust than i had bargained for at. needed new trunk, floor pans, inner fenders, new fenders, and lots of small spots. time for pics.

removal of trunk and tail light panel.
[IMG][/IMG]

i had to cut trunk panel in half to transport it

shock brace welded in

trunk panel welded in and ready to install. I had to go get my masters degree in puzzles to figure out how to get this bad boy in there.

got it in

tail light panel in place

it looks like a mustang again

started cutting out floor pans

test fit of floor pan

thats all i got so far. tell me what you guys think. more pics soon to come

Thank you for believing in that car.

I was right there once. It's gonna be great. I can't wait. Good luck.

Nice work, keep it up. I got to admit, your trunk was way worse than mine.
How is the rest of the car? Framerails cowl etc?

framerails are good. i got a couple small spots on the lower quarterpanels that need to be patched. i gotta patch both corners of both doors and pull a dent out of one side. cowl might be good i havent got there yet. and then i got a small hole by the rear window. other than that its a pretty good car

If you had a new gas tank attached (you should get one if the car has the orig.), it would insure the correct placement of the trunk. If you didn't use a tank when you welded in the trunk floor, it's a crapshoot for the bolt holes to match up exactly when you drop the tank in, so don't put any gas in the tank until it's bolted home, in case you have to do some drilling.

Check carefully for hairline cracks in the base of the shock towers. I've seen cracked towers on high miles V8 Mustangs. Weld in two small supports at the base while the motor is out, and get an export brace if the car has a two piece stock brace, too. These cars weren't designed to be driven 150k+. Of course, you may all know this stuff, but just my 2˘. Keep postin'.

i plan on using a fuel cell but i never expected the holes to line up anyways. both of the shock towers had cracks and welds from the previous owner. i plan on putting in lots of braces to stand up to the hp. progress from today:

bottom firewall was rusted thru

homemade patch panel compliments of driveshaft tunnel

passenger side floor pan fully welded in

starting on drivers side floor pans tomorrow
