OK that didn't take long. The weights looked fine, not gummed up and free moving.

Then you need to swap springs and/or adjust the stops. Ideally, you'd take the distributor into a performance shop with a Sun distributor machine and let them recurve it for you, but machines (and shops) like that are getting scarce. You may be able to get it close with a generic parts-counter recurve kit.

if you have a good timing gun you can recurve it yourself (not as exact as the sun dial but good in the ballpark).
disconnect vacuum advance and plug it so the carb won't get any air through that hose

time your engine to 10 degrees (time gun to 10 degrees so that pointer and mark match 0)
then rev to 1000, read how much it advanced from your reference. do the same for 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000
this will show you the curve.

Alright, I took the dizzy apart and cleaned it all up. That must have had something to do with it because it runs up to 32* now. I still have the stumble though. I can't believe the carb could be too big for the engine. Especially since I leaned it out with the jets and rods. Otherwise it is a night and day difference compared to the 2 barrel.

na you should be able to run this carb with your engine without stumbling.
the edelbrocks are spread bore so they should be easier for street than the holleys, but I wouldn't have any other ieda on how to cure off idle stumble on those ones.

if it's stumbling during accelleration it could be related to the secondaries opening, but this seems a clear accellerator pump issue.
when you push the throttle with engine off do you get a nice healthy squirt on both sides of the carb?
