Default Is it hard to change a sterring wheel on a 65?

I currently have a wooden steering wheel...but it doesn't go with the rest of the all black interior.

So I bought a black Grant one (as well as the installation accessory kit).

I'm an idiot when it comes to stuff like this.

I was going to take it to a mechanic...he says he'll change it for $60.

I'd rather use that $60 for some pizza and beer instead...lol.

Can an imbecile like me swap the steering wheel?

I'll appreciate any step-by-step pictures as well.

Thanks!

You will probably need to barrow a 2 jaw puller.

but the process is

1) remove bolt
2)attach puller
3) remove wheel
4 stick on new wheel on straight and make sure horn contacts ride in appropriate slots on the bottom of the wheel as you tighten the bolt down

this is about as easy as it gets

It certainly is easy to do with
1. impact
2. Steering wheel puller

It is possible to without #1
It is near impossible to do without #2

$5. Not heavy duty, it would wear out in regular use, but it'll last you forever.

Don't forget to take off the positive or ground on the battery before starting.

A shocking suggestion.

Now if we could only talk him into something better than that Grant…

Pointless

It's going to spark all the time after installed, why not spark a little bit during the installation too.

Unless he needs to adjust the gap between wheel and column…

I agree. I still haven't figured out what steering wheel to put in when I replace the original. The Grant I had last year lasted 1 day before I took it off.
