Has anyone used the Ford Racing rear disc brake kit? This kit is basically just stock brakes right? I'm going to be using 13" Cobra brakes up front. I was thinking about going with cobra rears but they don't seem to be that much better. Just .65" larger rotors.

Hey, my whole life is a fake!
I have those exact brakes on the rear.
The rear is a 9" that I got from quickperformance racing. but I have no idea how far that wouyld match any cut versailles rear or similar.
from what I hear they're the exact same thing as from an explorer.

Those are Explorer 11.25" rear disks for large bearing 9" rear ends. I've got them on the Currie 9" rear we have and used a floor/tranny hump mounted e-brake from Lokar. Make sure you get the Lokar kit with the explorer clevis included and not the drum kit. Easy install, easy to find replacement parts, inexpensive rear disk setup.

Cool. I think I'll go with that setup for the rear. I doubt I'd notice a difference between that and cobra rear discs. I think the cobras are single piston calipers too.
Quick Performance is actually who I was going to get mine from. How is yours? Any problems?
Hiya,
i got the rear axle housing, a 3rd-member (3.5:1 trac loc), moser 31-spline axles and those explorer brakes with it.
The install was very easy. it really seems as if the brakes were just made for that axle.
You can put it all together with 'normal' tools. the only exrta-ordinary was the need of an angle grinder to cut a disc on either side that slips over the axle (you'll see when you put it together). Anyway my verdict:
couldn't be simpler and it's great value for the money.
BUT: you will need the Lokar e-brake kit (they sell that as well), I asked them as well for a braided brake line. great quality but it was a bit too long.
The axle housing itself has no provisions for brakelines, so you need to weld a few tabs on that you can bent around the line.
Believe it or not, i'm so lazy I still have the line being held down with plastic spaghettis (don't tell anyone). in short: I'm very happy with it and this will be the last thing on my car that will ever fall apart (quite sure). Oh forgot: paint the axle before install !!!!!
On that note:
When you deal with Brydon at QP (i very much assume so), say hello from Kalli in Ireland (he'll remember me). I have to say that when they welded the spring perches on they accidentally had the angle the wrong way round. the pinion was pointing 4 degrees down instead of up. It was so embrassing to them I can guarantee you that it'll never ever happen again *g*
