alright, now that the mustang is back, soon ill be doing the suspension on it. and i was wondering what you guys would do as far as front suspension goes. what coil over kits you guys like, etc etc. im not going for the lightest setup for drag racing, i want something that will handle when i put it through the slalloms so to speak.. obviously the cheaper the better but i do realize some of the coilover stuff isnt cheap.
should i replace the stock stuff? do the shelby drop, stiffer springs, bigger sway bar, better shocks? what kinda stuff do you guys reccomend?

What are your goals and budget? Coilovers and cheap should not be put in the same sentence.
I run:
560lb 1" drop coils (comonly referred to as 620 coils)
Roller perches
Stock control arms
UCA drop
15/16" front sway bar
4.5 leaf mid-eye rears
Edelbrock IAS shocks
I love the way may car rides and handles. It's firm but not jarring and it corners very well. I may add a rear bar and upsize the front bar, but that's only because I like driving my car hard. The average joe wouldn't need that for the street.

i wasnt saying i wanted cheap coilovers lol, i was just saying the cheaper the better but not needed. i was actually thinking about doing the same thing you have, but with like a 1" sway bar, and gas adjusts..

I'll caution that Gas-A-Justs are going to be stiff. They're a great bang for the buck and they handle well, but ride quality isn't fantastic. If you have nice smooth roads there, no problem. If your roads are as crappy as they are here (they're really bad here), you may find the ass end hopping around and rattling your teeth a little.
There's a post a few threads down about Gas-A-Justs vs GR-2's. You may want to look through that.

If it is going to be a street-only car, coil-overs are overkill IMO. I just finished redoing my front suspension and I absolutely love it. It rides like a whole different brand new car. Here is what I decided on:
Opentracker UCA (non-roller)
Opentracker LCA (spherical bearing)
1" Shelby drop
Opentracker Roller Spring Perches
Opentracker Roller Idler Arm
Baer Tracker Outer Tie Rod Kit
Street or Track Adjustable Strut Rods
Koni Adjustable Shocks
Unknown Springs (Originally on the car when I bought it)
1" Front Sway Bar w/poly end-links
1/4" Poly Spring Insulator
I got most of my parts from John at Opentracker.com. John and Shari are very nice people with excellent customer service and great parts. Get in touch with him and tell him what you are looking for and what you want to spend and he will build you a package. I know that I went overboard on some of my parts, but I figured that I didn't want to have to go back and redo anything. I did purchase the 560lb 1" drop springs from Opentracker, but my spring compressor sucked so I put the old springs back in. My car ride is excellent now. No complaints at all. The one thing I might do in the future is upgrade the UCA to Street or Track's rollerized tubular UCA. They aren't available yet so that is why I didn't get them. Here is a pic of my ride height now. Don't pay attention to the rear height because I am about to start on that next. Good luck with yours.

If you are looking at coilovers (maybe overkill may not depending on what you want) I'd stay away from the Mustang II kits from what I read. The TCP setup is very nice and looks great. I haven't seen Zmetallica on here lately but his car is running the TCP setup.
+1 for Opentracker! I have a similar setup on my 64 1/2 as Pyraya33, but I went with the roller LCAs as well as the N.P.D negative wedge kit.
Pyraya33; I'm surprised you had trouble with the springs-I didn't even need a spring compressor with my 620 pounders!
Super64, I also used the roller LCA's from Opentracker. They have a spherical bearing in them. I figured they were worth it for the extra $100 and the fact that I was using adjustable strut rods and didn't want to put the LCA in a bind.
The new springs were far from just sliding in. The problem I had was the rod on my spring compressor was too long and it hit the spring perches when I went to put the spring in. It wouldn't allow the spring to seat properly. Oh well, I like how the car sits right now and I will decide if I want to change the springs out after I put some miles on it.
