i have a 67 fastback and i want a better race style coilover conversion thats better then stock or mild aftermarket replacement parts and i want it to be on a budget. so i decided i would build my own since i already build a-arm off road race cars with 20 inch plus inches of travel i figured this wouldnt be to hard. it will be a conversion where the coil overs mount on the lower control arm not on the upper and the arms and struts will be made out of round chromolly tubing and use chomolly heim joints with screw in ball joints with sleeves. the coil overs will be QA1 single adjustable with 450 pound springs. i just wanted to let people see and know what your opinions on the project are.
in the pics are the parts that i have so far im still waiting on the heims and coilovers to come im but i m planning or starting to build the control arms tomorrow.

yes i alredy ordered the qa1s i was under the impression that they were alright since most of these types of conversions use them but if they leak ill rebuild them and use better seals.
and yes coil overs use lighter springs mostly due to the different angle that they are mounted at. there is a formula for finding the rate due to the angle that theyre mounted
Looks like you are having too much fun Should be very nice when you are done. Do you have a big block? Have you calculated the setback of the coil over?
I'm looking forward to watching your progress.
You are right, in that all the kits, like TCP, Ron Morris, etc, are very expensive for what they deliver. Nice to see another do-it-yourself-er.
While your at it, are you going to fab up your own Vario-centric camber kit?
Good luck!
no i have a smallblock. what do you mean by setback of the coilover? :/
and i am going to build my own camber kit but its not going to be adjustable it will be a square with a hole directly in the center and then ill use the hein joints to adjust the camber
