Talking Connecting Elelbrock 600cfm correctly to 289.

Alright, you guys have bailed me out a few times before. I can't tell you guys how much I appreciate the help I've received here. So, I finally got around to installing the new intake and carb. However, I am not exactly sure how to hook the new carb up. I've taken a couple pictures of my setup and have labeled them on what I've "learned" so far. Any info would be great!

You'll need to check this:
http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_.../1000/1403.pdf
but most of your guesses are right.

You can get a pre-bent steel fuel line for the Edelbrock from Glazier Nolan.

Use a 67-68 390 throttle shaft (the bend for the spring is farther back) and drill a 1/16" hole in the carb end tip for a cotter pin (the normal clip will not fit the Edelbrock).

Use the stock throttle spring and a 2V spring bracket, sideways, at the left rear corner of the carb.

all connections in pictures are ok. where you write green "connect vacuum?" you attach the vacuum advance of distributor. the other one (in picture right) is plugged just as you guessed.
further to the comments make sure the linkage is adjusted properly.
for this you need a 2nd person, hop into the car and gloor the pedal. adjust the linkage is such a way that when the pedal is fully down the linkage has just fully opened the primary throttle plate. better even the slightest idea before that. make sure that when fully floored the throttle plate is not worked past fully open. if you do that and floor it a few times you end up damaging linkage in carb, it might stick WOT. if you have the throttle plate not fully opened when fully floored you'll be missing power.
once adjusted, reconnect everything and ask person in car to floor it once more slowly. make sure it just stops before the linkage in carb is stressed. just a mu before full open.
don't rely on bricks on the accellerator pedal. i tried that, it simply doesn't work.
don't worry about the secondary linkage when adjusting this with that carb. only with load on the engine that'll open ...

Just wanted to let you guys know the info helped alot. Got her all hooked up (minus the linkage, I ran out of time) and she cranked right up. Sounds good. I'm back on shift (24 hours) so I can't tinker today but I'm going to try and get the linkage sorted out. I'm sure it won't be bad with the info and pics I've found. Thanks again!

the easiesty to do the linkage is to drill a tiny hole at the carb end of the rod and use a cotter pin to hold it in place.
I didn't think of it when I did mine, so i cut a groove and used a c-clip. I would much prefer hole and cotter pin (as said, that never crossed my mind)
