I've heard from several folks that installing a new convertible top is not really a do-it-yourself project, but www.latemodelrestoration.com (50Resto) has a DVD with instructions for the installation of a convertible top and they sell all the parts too.

If you have another person with you that has a bit of body know-how that would help.

I forget exactly where I found them, but using google I was able to find generic instructions on doing the install.

A few things you will need to know:

1. Empty out your trunk. Some parts that you will need to access are in there.

2. Start the dis-assembly at the front of the car and work your way back.

3. When you put the new top back on: Work your way forward on the top. When you get to the side of the top behind the rear mirrors, again, go back to front. (This avoids wrinkles in the fabric.)

4. This IS a lengthy project. You should probably garage or cover your car. Secure it in some way, just in case the weather tries to get to it. My top took about 8 hours for 2 amateurs to do this job correctly.

As far as the back window? I have no idea; we did not replace that part. (Yet.)
