How to Fix a Leak in a 1999 - 2004 Mustang Vert
#22
Conv Leak
Thanks for the pictures. The water leak is comming from around one of the screw holes. I have been putting a towel in the back to soak up the water when it rains. I plan to fix the leak on a nice day. I did recieve very good instructions including what position to have the top in while performing the fix and when the job is complete.
These pictures are great,
Thanks again!

Whoops - I just logged back into MF after a long hiatus and saw messages from people asking for more details on this fix. I did not have the mail forward set up in the settings (fixed now) so I wasn't notified of the messages - I tried messaging the people back but their profile does not permit replies. It is unlikely that anyone who tried to message me will see this post but if they do - my sincere apologies for not replying. Please try me again - this time I will get the message and you will get a response

Going to attemPt to fix this weekend but I am kinda confused on the outside
"patch" is the patch going inside the separation of the back window?
Or truly outside on the top, I am sending a pic of my leaky situation also

I went to a glass shop and the guy there used urethane, that they use for putting in the front windshields to glue the top back to the bottom of my glass. But it rained yesterday and it was still leaking so when it was sitting in the drive way I went into the back and sure enough I found the holes just like in this thread. I will have to find a patch kit for this now.

Awesome thread!
Thank you for posting this thread! My '02 'Vert just started leaking water the other day. I was able to see the water streaming down the vinyl and making a puddle in the back. The holes are exactly where this thread specifies. A little research and now I can be confident that I am making the correct repair!
I noticed this thread started back in '09. Does anyone have any long-term updates about the durability of this repair? I maintain my top very well, and if this holds up for long-term use then it will last me another 10 years.
