Default Garage vs. dealer vs. convertible specialist for service?

Ok, I am not a car chick... well, I love them, but I can not fix them... and I willingly pay someone else to change my oil, etc, so I do not have to.

I have a '01 Mustang convertible - it has the slight leak issue that I've seen discussed in this area - but my question is this:

for maintenance work - outside of engine issues - who would you recommend?

I live in the sticks - and it may be an hour drive or more to someone who specializes in convertibles.

My local dealer has had too much turn-over in their service dept for me to blindly trust them - but, if they screw up - and they have - they can get FORD parts to fix it right.

Or - just a local mechanic?

I'd like to get the leak issue addressed... and it needs a new battery (it is away for the winter) by autumn the top was slower than it had been when I purchased the car in June, and I wonder if the new battery will address that - or if the hydraulics/motor need attention.

sorry for the ramble, thank you for your patience.

I would suggest a top specialist, but Ford may be able to handle it as well. The best thing to do is to call a BMW dealer. Usually, they know some good outside people that specialize in tops because BMW tops are just horrible. Just ask them in the service dept who some good folks are, they should be able to assist you. Ford may be able to too, but I trust my local ford techs about as far as I can throw them.
