Default TSP 07-19-1 Convertible Top Wear

I came across this TSP which addresses a wear hole than can develop near the 4th and/or 1st bow area due to pinching through the vinyl in 2005-2007 convertibles.

I have just bought a 2006 convertible that has 4 more months of warranty left. Has anyone asked the dealer to address this potential problem under warranty even before the wear hole occurs by installing the tethers and protective tape mentioned in the TSP?

John

Oops, meant TSB (Technical Service Bulletin), not TSP.

Went through that exact thing today at the ford dealer about my 06 vert. I'm in just about the same boat as you....my warranty expires next month and I had the air bag re-call taken care of and asked about the top tsb. My local ford dealer basically told me that they don't go looking for problems or potential problems before they happen. All I asked them about was to simply install the tethers and the protective tape like the tsb suggests and the service supervisor said they would check with ford to see if they could just install those things before I came across a problem when the warranty has expired and it comes out of my pocket to fix. They will let me know next week what they find out when I take it back for a fuel pump/sending unit replacement to fix the hesitation off idle after a long cruise (tsb 06-9-9). I'm hoping that they take care of it before a problem arrises since the car only has 13K miles on the clock and I don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon.
