Default Quarter window problem

Didn't even realize there was a vert section..lol
Anyways my drivers side quarter window is doing really goofy things. The window motor works but it will raise about 2 inches then stop and the motor will sound like it is up all the way. I can run the motor and pull it up. And when I take it down it almost falls in without resistance. I looked in the well and the tube the window rides on is really loose at the top. Everything is tight. No loose bolts or motor. Is that good? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks in advance BTW its a 87 GT Vert.

Sounds like your window motor gears are probably shot. You can open the motor up and replace the plastic gears or buy new motors. To diagnos the problem you'd need to remove the rear quarter panels CAREFULLY! They break easily. Also, if the window has a lot of play the foot anchor may be broken. I just replaced my motors and greased the tracks. I'll be doing a write up soon. You can find replacement parts at 5.0resto.com

yeah sounds like the rubber gear bushings are bad. take the motor out and open it up and replace the three clear bushings, it took me about 15 min tops to change em out so its not hard. i got my bushing from autozone for 7 bucks in the do it your self section
