Default replacing a 95 convertible with an 04 top.

I am helping a friend out with his 1995 Convertible. He ordered a complete top (mechanisms and all) from a salvage yard. The top is off a 2004 mustang. He was able to remove and install the new top in just under a day. His issue is, the pins to latch the top to the frame are now about 3/4 to 1" shy of the holes. The tech at the salvage yard told him there is a bar that sometimes needs to be flipped if this issue occurs. We have been through every part of the mechanics but can't find a bar or joint that can be flipped or adjusted to give him the extra length. Any suggestions on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

i dont understand why it would be any shorter than the top that was on the car. the 94-04 all had the same top and im assuming the same assembly. are you sure everything got bolted in correctly?

Yes, everything was bolted in correctly, he has been through each part multiple times. His belief now is that the top needs to be slightly stretched, so he loosened the bolts and has the top closed and in the Sun to allow the fabric to stretch out. Then he will torque everything down. Hopefully this will work.

normally when you install a new top tightness is normal. you just pull a little harder to close it. i just did my top this past sunday. and just put a little weight on it and pull it closed
