Default bracket cutting top

i have a 88 mustang conv on the first bend coming off the bracket seems to be cutting the top there is extra padding so itll take a wile before it gets to the top but i want to stop it now is there some covers or plates or something to stop this thanks

punctuation is your friend, dont be scared of it. is the bracket cutting the padding or the actual vinyl of the top? there is a strip of padding that runs along each side of the top, where the brackets curve over. if you have the original top and padding, this might be worn out. if your top has been replaced, they may not have replaced the padding or could have forgotten to re-install it. in either case, the frame could be rubbing directly against the top, which will cause extra wear and eventually rub a hole in the vinyl.

no need to get all hostile. i was just making a joke. i read the whole thing and didn't completely understand it. i tried to give you advice from what i comprehended. if you dont want to take that and comment back like an adult, then good luck finding someone else that actually comes into the convertible tech forums...

I have the same problem with my 68. The padding is there, but I added some foam to it. I also have a problem with the top not going all the way down on one side which makes it difficult to put the boot (dust cover) on. Had that problem since day one.
